Innovative Solutions Canada — Testing Stream
A Government of Canada program that procures late-stage Canadian innovations (TRL 7–9) and tests them in real federal operational environments.
Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) is a federal program with two streams. The Challenge Stream funds early research and development against problems posed by departments. The Testing Stream is different: it buys pre-commercial, late-stage innovations and has a federal department test them in its own operations, producing an independent evaluation of how the innovation performs.
For a company, selection provides real-world validation from a government user and a pathway to commercialization with the federal government. For departments, it is a way to try Canadian innovations before they are widely available. The program is run by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED); details are on canada.ca.
